New Cell Culture System with Increased Capacity is Designed to Increase Yield and Efficiency
Thermo Scientific Nunc High Density Cell Factory System is designed to deliver up to 30 percent increase in yields with no increase in system footprint
8 Sept 2016A new high-capacity cell culture system is designed to provide efficient and economical large-scale production of cells by increasing productivity within the same manufacturing space.
The Thermo Scientific Nunc High Density Cell Factory system incorporates additional layers compared with the standard Nunc Cell Factory systems, increasing surface area and yield up to 30 percent. The incremental surface area allows greater output from a single run within the same footprint as the standard Nunc Cell Factory systems, thus increasing manufacturing capacity without capital investment.
“Across large-scale manufacturing processes, there is a need for improved process economics and efficient scale-up,” said Jill Staggert, senior product manager for production cell culture at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “We’ve designed our High Density Cell Factory system to support that purpose while ensuring easy adoption; it’s constructed with the same materials as the standard Cell Factory systems, which include our Thermo Scientific Nunclon Delta cell culture surface. We also improved productivity by adding layers to the conventional system, without increasing the overall height; this approach has increased surface area, while offering potential savings in labor, decontamination and waste disposal costs.”
Available in 3-, 13- or 52- layer options, the Nunc High Density Cell Factory system give users the opportunity to achieve equivalent cell densities while increasing the total yield per system. Other alternatives, such as using more cell culture consumables or validating new platforms, are options to achieve a similar result. The High Density Cell Factory system is a smart, economical solution to increase your production capacity, labor and handling efficiencies with minimal change, within the same manufacturing footprint and with the same product contact materials. These important factors should be considered when time-to-market or project deadlines are critical.
