Hamilton Robotics introduces conductive CO-RE tips for 384-channel dispensing on the company’s MICROLAB® STAR liquid handling platform. Manufactured by Hamilton in both the United States and Switzerland, these new disposable tips are packaged in unique nested tip racks that provide higher packing and storing density and reduced space requirements. 20 nestable tip racks sit on one tray, providing system access to 7,680 tips, for longer unattended runs.

Hamilton’s proprietary CO-RE (compressed O-ring expansion) technology for tip pickup and ejection delivers the most robust and consistent liquid handling available today. The new CO-RE 384 tips are conductive, enabling capacitance liquid level detection (cLLD) on the Hamilton CO-RE 384 STP multichannel head. cLLD, which improves pipetting accuracy and precision, cannot be performed with other tips on the market. The new Hamilton tips also eliminate electrostatic effects, which can be problematic with non-conductive tips.

Hamilton has been enhancing its tip production capabilities over the last several years, adding Class III cleanroom manufacturing facilities in Reno along with new quality assurance tests and measurements including in-line visual inspection. “Tip quality is critical for overall liquid handling performance,” explained Rick Luedke, product manager for Hamilton Robotics. “We have implemented the most stringent tolerance limits in the industry to ensure uniformity and consistent high quality.”
