New Connectors for Micro and Nano Flow Applications Simplify Leak Free Tubing Connections
5 Jun 2006Upchurch Scientific has introduced a large and varied selection of new connectors designed specifically for micro and nano flow applications. Available in the UK & Ireland from Anachem, these new products are manufactured from PEEK™ polymer and are ideal for the use with capillary OD tubing. Full details of all these fittings that simplify capillary tubing connections can be found in the new 2006 Upchurch catalogue, now available from Anachem.
MicroTight Unions easily connect fused silica tubing and include a new conductive version that allows introduction of voltage into any electrospray or capillary electrophoresis system. With an extremely low internal volume of 16nL, the union can be placed in line with 360µm OD tubing. The new insulating mounting bracket provides the conductive union with a secure mount, enabling current to pass through. Easily integrated into your system or lab the bracket with stainless steel nut and screw, includes holes in the base to attach to any lab surface.
Another addition to Upchurch’s inventory is the luer-to-microtight adapter, ideal for infusing samples into lab-on-a-chip devices. This product is made from biocompatible PEEK™ and connects directly to a leur-tip syringe or similar male leur to 360µm tubing without using tubing sleeves. Providing direct connection for 1/16’’ OD tubing, the latest MicoTee and MicroCross offer low swept volumes as a result of the .006’’ (150µm) thru holes.
Alternatively, if you are interested in using PEEK™ tubing sleeves, there are extra products listed in the 1/16’’ and 1/32’’ categories ranging in colour, ID and tubing sizes. Designed for various sizes of capillary tubing from 70-100µm and 785-770 µm these sleeves offer a great way to adapt capillary tubing to standard coned ports.
The TinyTight swaging tool is a completely new item specifically for the Minstac® compatible fittings that have 6-40 threads, making tubing assemblies quick and easy to construct. By placing the tool in a vice and tightening the tubing, fitting and ferrule, the swaged ferrule is securely held in place. For very low flow path applications, the new non-metallic 10-32 micro-volume inline check valve prevents backflow and avoids potential for contamination or sensitive upstream equipment damage. This product is extremely suitable for biological and corrosive fluid applications as it is manufactured with PEEK polymer perfluoroelastomer.
Anachem has been a distributor of Upchurch Scientific Chromatography and Fluid Transfer components for over thirty-five years, providing a full range of products to the U.K. and Irish scientific communities.
