Scientists and the key technologies advancing their research were celebrated at a glitzy awards ceremony held during Neuroscience 2018 in San Diego this week.

The latest in The Scientists’ Choice Awards series, the new Neuroscience Digital Marketing Awards recognize the most engaging, inspiring and innovative content and communications in the field.

Science industry leaders joined online publisher SelectScience® at a special Neuroscience 2018 Awards Champagne Reception held at the Hard Rock Hotel, where they also celebrated one year of the successful Seals of Quality program, designed to further help scientists worldwide choose the best laboratory products to accelerate their work.

‘Championing effective conversation between manufacturers and scientists’

Best in Digital Marketing Awards were presented to three overall winners from a shortlist of nine:

A fascinating interview with Dr. Adam Case, assistant professor, University of Nebraska Medical Center, who closely studies the immune system and monitors behaviors of immune cells in real time using the IncuCyte to carry out live-cell imaging.

A video interview about quick, sensitive detection of Alzheimer's disease biomarkers using multiplexing, with Dr. Anthony Saporita, senior scientist at MilliporeSigma.

An insightful webinar exploring a new approach for DNA/RNA sample assessment using the Thermo Scientific™ NanoDrop One™, presented by Dr. Voula Kodoyianni, Thermo Fisher Scientific, now available to watch on demand.

Other winning articles included:

Also highlighted were two engaging email campaigns produced in partnership with BioLegend and Abcam. These featured, respectively, a series of articles about how leading scientists are using antibodies in neuroscience and The Complete ELISA guide.

SelectScience Editor-in-Chief Kerry Parker said: “We’re hugely proud to host these awards celebrating communications excellence within the science industry. Many congratulations to all those shortlisted for joining us in championing creativity and effective conversation between scientific manufacturers and scientists. It’s only by working together like this that we can accelerate scientific progress as we need to.”

The lab equipment scientists love the most

At the party, the latest winners of a coveted Bronze SelectScience Seal of Quality were also announced: Waters, for its XBridge Columns, BioTek Instruments, for the Synergy™ Neo2 Multi-Mode Reader and PerkinElmer for its EnVision® Multilabel Plate Reader. Among the other attendees were representatives of companies awarded a Seal of Quality over the past year, including Jackson ImmunoResearch and Sartorius.

Seals of Quality recognize the top 0.1% of laboratory products that consistently receive the highest customer review ratings and are designed to enable scientists to see at a glance the instruments and services their peers love the most. There are four levels: Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze. SelectScience has now awarded Seals of Quality to a total of 34 lab products from across the scientific spectrum.

CEO and Co-Founder of SelectScience, Dr. Arif Butt said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our reviewers around the world for sharing their valuable opinions and also to congratulate the Seal of Quality winners, who have been recognized by the people who matter most — their customers.”
