New Format for Venom Discovery Arrays

29 Feb 2012

Venomtech, a new biotech company specializing in the supply and research of venom, is pleased to announce the launch of the Venom Discovery Array II. The unique selection of venoms and arrays are designed to facilitate research and help find new, unique, biological tools for applications such as Cancer Research, Hematology, Antimicrobials, Immunology, Growth Factors, Natriuresis, Pain, Insecticides, and Antimalarials.

The unique venom discovery arrays are now standardized to 100µg protein per well from crude whole venom lyophilized in low protein binding screw top vials. The vials are presented in 96-well automation compatible 2D barcoded arrays, as standard. Whole venom provides a naturally compressed library for maximum hit potential; individual batch codes for the venoms mean all hits can be followed up with the identical venom sample. The array consists of forty-six phylogenetically and geographically diverse snake or Tarantula venoms and four blank wells for your own controls. Venomtech can also provide the barcode reader should you need it.

The arrays are also now available in a 384 format with the 46 species in 4-log serial dilutions for maximum convenience. Steve Trim, Venomtech added ‘Each VDA library could contain well over 10,000 components, the majority of which are un-described! The venom discovery arrays have been a huge success since their launch for use as biological tools within key application areas. We are happy to speak to individuals regarding their personalized requirements.’
