New Online Search Tool from LGC Provides Fast Access to SNP Genotyping Assays
20 Oct 2014LGC’s new Assay Search Tool allows you to search for new wet-lab validated KASP™ Genotyping Assays, view pricing and order online, without a sequence submission.
You can refine your search by RS ID, gene symbol, and chromosome location or filter by pathway of interest, while the results contain full details of the assay(s), including RS ID, gene name, chromosome location of the polymorphism and reference DNA sequence.
The assays can be run on most FRET-capable plate readers and qPCR instruments, and during the ordering process you also have the opportunity to select and add the optimal KASP Master Mix, which contains the labeled components of the universal reporting system, with the correct ROX™ level (passive reference dye) for your plate reader / qPCR instrument.
Over the past 10 years, research in LGC’s service laboratories has validated KASP Genotyping Assays that target hundreds of thousands of SNPs and other genetic variations that can cause, or contribute to, human diseases, with the company recently announcing availability of 110,000 new assays through the online search tool.
Joris Parmentier, LGC’s Product Manager, Genomics, said: “The tool allows easy searching and ordering of KASP Genotyping Assays that help scientists to further understand a wide variety of disease areas including cancer, cardiovascular, respiratory and infectious. In keeping with LGC’s vision of ‘science for a safer world’, we plan to add new batches of assays over time, covering not just genetic variation in humans, but variation in plant and animal genomes too.”
KASP Genotyping Assays, which use a universal Significant FRET cassette reporter system that eliminates the need to label primers/probes, offer scientists a cost-effective solution for the identification of SNPS and InDels. The assays also offer flexible primer design to increase the rate of successful assay development. Watch the video above to learn more about how KASP Genotyping Assays work.
Cited in nearly 2,000 published papers, LGC’s KASP genotyping technology has been used in human, plant, animal and microbial research, across a broad range of applications, including the mechanisms of disease and the selection of high quality crop variants, as highlighted in the application notes and case studies below.
