NEW POSTER DETAILS LATEST APPLICATION OF HR-US TECHNOLOGY FOR MONITORING OF CRYSTALLIZATION

22 Apr 2006

A new technical poster demonstrating the use of HR-US technology to monitor crystallization for material analysis was presented by Ultrasonic Scientific Ltd., innovator in High-Resolution Ultrasonic Spectroscopy (HR-US), at the recent PITTCON 2006 conference.

HR-US is a powerful tool for the analysis of the pattern crystallization in a wide range of samples from homogeneous media to complex colloidal systems. It allows the measurement of the onset of crystallization, freezing point depletion, volume fraction of solids, crystallization rate, micro-crystal size and the detection of post-crystallization transitions.

In the new poster, Ultrasonic Scientific demonstrates the use of its award-winning HR-US 102 spectrometer to conduct a series of analyses, and the unique capabilities of HR-US for monitoring of crysallization. Five different applications for the monitoring of crysallization are demonstrated in this poster.

The applications demonstrated in the poster include:

  • Setting of gypsum plaster
  • Comparison of crystallization pattern of palm-based fats
  • Effect of emulsifier on crystallization of vegetable fat
  • Crystallization of lysozyme
  • Crystallization of emulsion droplets

HR-US is an innovative award-winning technique based on the precision measurements of velocity and attenuation of the ultrasonic waves propagating through the analysed sample. This innovative spectrometer is equipped with a precision temperature controller and a digital stirring system and can perform measurements in dilute and concentrated solutions, suspensions and emulsions in various regimes including kinetics, temperature ramp and titrations. Furthermore, the spectrometer is equipped with two 1ml cells, which can be used independently or in differential measurements.

The new technical poster is available direct from Ultrasonic Scientific.
