New Products and Recently Launched Website Showcased

SurModics, Inc., a provider of surface modification and in vitro diagnostic (IVD) technologies to the healthcare industry will showcase its new products and new website at ASM 2012.

From diagnostic assays (stabilizers, blockers, buffers, diluents) and detection chemistries (colorimetric and chemiluminescent substrates) to antigens and antibodies, SurModics IVD provides the critical components you need to develop sensitive, reproducible, and robust assays and technologies. The products incorporate comprehensive controls and chemical formulations.

The recently expanded IVD product line will be showcased at ASM2012 and will include:
SurModics^® Assay Diluent (HAMA Blocker), which is a proprietary protein-free assay buffer formulation that reduces matrix interferences while maintaining assay integrity.

BioFX^® TMB Enhanced HRP Membrane Substrate (ESPM) which has similar sensitivity to most mid- to high-level chemiluminescent membrane substrates without the costly equipment needed for detection.

StabilBlot™ Blocker Family contains five different formulations that enhance sensitivity and block non-specific binding in blotting applications.

BioFX^® TMB Extended Range HRP Microwell Substrate (TMBX) will be the newest addition to SurModics’ family of TMB HRP Substrates when it is officially launched later this month. Substrate choice is a critical consideration during assay development and can impact factors such as sensitivity, dynamic range and reproducibility. Use of TMBX in a quantitiative assay (i) can increase the assays upper limit of quantitation and (ii) maintain the detection limits and analytical sensitivity achieved with other substrates in our TMB family. Use of TMBX also improves the reproducibility of the assay through lower backgrounds and control of assay timing.

The website, revealed earlier this year, reflects SurModics' strategic focus on its two core businesses: Medical Device Coatings—hydrophilic coatings that enable minimally invasive medical procedures; and In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD)—immunoassay reagents that improve the performance of in vitro diagnostic test kits.

The new site includes the ability for researchers, IVD test kit manufacturers, and other customers to purchase nearly 900 IVD products online. This provides an added level of convenience for customers to get the critical components they need to develop world-class assays and diagnostic tests.
