17 Sept 2006

Alfa Aesar, a Johnson Matthey Company, has announced the publication of a new technical document, which provides a comprehensive guide to the use and selection of Spectroflux alkali metal borate fusion fluxes. Recognized worldwide for quality and consistency, Spectroflux fluxes are used in the preparation of samples for analysis of a wide variety of inorganic materials.

The new 10-page document covers a series of topics, including typical materials analyzed, sample preparation, analytical techniques, application notes, instrumentation overview, and flux selection guidelines. Dozens of Spectroflux products are listed in three categories: the “Classic”, the specialized, and the new pre-fused fluxes. The pre-fused fluxes have been developed and extensively tested to offer many additional benefits in handling, dispensing and application. Spectroflux products are available from stock from Alfa Aesar sales and distribution points throughout the world.

A final section summarizes ideal selection of platinum crucibles, lids, moulds, tongs and casting dishes for manual as well as automatic fusion techniques. Alfa Aesar offers reliable Johnson Matthey Zirconia Grain Stablized (ZGS) 95% platinum, 5% gold labware as well as a variety of other materials and forms.
