Obtain High Transfection Efficiencies in Parasites

14 Aug 2008

Lonza has developed Amaxa® Basic Parasite Nucleofector® Kits providing transfection efficiencies of up to 1000 times higher (e.g. in Plasmodium berghei and Trypanosoma brucei) compared to standard methods such as electroporation or particle bombardment. The kits enable fast and simple determination of species-specific transfection conditions and will improve the research of parasite-host interactions.

Parasitic protozoa infect vertebrates and invertebrates and some are even parasitic in plants. In humans they can cause severe diseases such as Malaria, Sleeping Sickness or Leishmaniasis.
