Omega Optical is launching its new website – www.omegafilters.com -- in April 2006 with a new graphic look, improved navigation, full e-commerce, added resources and technical content, and a new section on its “green” manufacturing facility. These changes and additions complement an already extensive product and technical web listing of precision optical filters for OEM instrumentation and research.

Graphically, the new site includes images of products and manufacturing, as well as galleries of images provided by life sciences and astronomy collaborators. For improved navigation, customers can now find products either by application or filter types. On the technical front, significant content has been added related to thin-film theory, design, filter types, and instrumentation design considerations. The company’s “green” manufacturing facility is now featured in a new section. Finally on the e-commerce side, all standard products are now available for purchase through the e-Filter store, and following the launch the first 25 customers will receive a 25% discount on e-commerce purchases.

The product section of the website now includes application specific products for Fluorescence Microscopy, Flow Cytometry, Astronomy/Aerospace, Raman Spectroscopy, and Color Imaging, as well as product lines for standard filter types including bandpass, longpass, shortpass, laser lines, laser edges, lamp lines, analytical, and UV. In addition, there are sections on collaborative engineering services and sub-assembly contracting, rounding out the company’s ability to provide comprehensive filter solutions for OEM partners and researchers worldwide.

The newly enlarged technical section encompasses optical interference filter theory, filter design, coatings, filter types, and system design considerations. It also includes company capabilities, core technology, and intellectual property. In addition, Application Notes have been added to the Fluorescence Microscopy product section.

E-commerce now encompasses all company product lines. In addition, electronic specification and quoting has been enhanced to provide rapid response for customer inquiries. The e-Filter™ section of the site also features Curvomatic, a spectral database of fluorophores and filters, and Build-A-Filter, an electronic specification tool for rapid custom filter manufacturing.

Omega’s new “green” facility is profiled on the site as well. The building was designed using the latest sustainable practices, materials, and features and is pending certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). This approach demonstrates the company’s long-term commitment not only to a healthy scientific community, but also to a healthy environment.
