Omega Optical Releases New Multi-media CD Catalog For Fluorescence Filter Sets

1 Oct 2006

Omega Optical, a pioneer of filter technology for fluorescence microscopy and instrumentation since 1969, is releasing a new multi-media-CD catalog of fluorescence filter sets.

The CD catalog will be available at both the Society for Neuroscience’s Annual Meeting in Atlanta and the American Society for Cell Biology’s conference in San Diego.

The catalog, Precision Optical Filters for Fluorescence Microscopy, introduces QuantaMAX™, a product line of durable, stable, high signal-to-noise sets, as well as a variety of new filter sets for Fluorescent Protein and FRET applications. These new products complement an extensive selection of dye-specific filter sets for all single and multi-label microscopy applications, including Fluorescent Proteins, Quantum Dots, FRET, M-FISH, Pinkel, Sedat, Ratio Imaging, Confocal, and Multi-photon. In conjunction with the catalog release, Omega is also introducing an industry-unique three-year warranty on all microscopy filters as well as a Guaranteed Delivery program for top-selling filter sets.

The CD catalog includes multi-media features such as an extensive image gallery, live cell movies, and fluorescence image screen-savers. There are links to interactive web tools such as Curvomatic, a database of fluorophores and filter spectra, and Build-A-Filter, a specification and quoting tool for Rapid Custom filters. In addition, there are resources such as a fluorophore reference table, light source and detector spectral data, an explanation of filter nomenclature, guidelines for choosing the correct filter sets, and relevant application notes and reprints.

Omega Optical’s new QuantaMAX filter sets are manufactured using state-of-the-art Energetic Process coating technology for high durability and environmental stability. The highly stable, hard-surface coatings are further protected from mechanical abrasion in a multi-substrate, coating-safe assembly, resulting in long filter life. These high signal-to-noise sets provide excellent results in all fluorescence microscopy applications including confocal, multi-photon, and live cell experiments. They are especially effective where photons are scarce and exposure times are critical.

Omega is also introducing fifteen new filter set solutions for the rapidly growing library of fluorescent proteins, as well as ten new filter sets for FRET to meet the needs of researchers using this increasingly popular technique. Rapid delivery, superior technical support, and long filter life complement Omega’s product offering. All filter sets are available online through an e-commerce store.
