On-Board Scanning for Classic Electrophoresis

10 Aug 2008

Sebia is pleased to announce the launch of its new Hydrasys 2 system, demonstrating a continued commitment to advancing gel electrophoresis techniques for diagnostic testing in clinical biochemistry, immunology and haematology laboratories.

Hydrasys 2 is an automated agarose gel electrophoresis system that builds on the success of the previous Hydrasys instrument. Powered by Sebia’s well-established Phoresis software, a new on-board scanner option provides efficient quantification of completed gels following visual interpretation.

The comprehensive Hydragel test portfolio includes proteins, proteinuria, lipoproteins, haemoglobins, LDL/HDL cholesterol, isoenzymes and immunofixation (IF). With the optional high-voltage module it is also possible to carry out isoelectric focussing (IEF) for cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and alpha 1-antitrypsin (A1AT) assays. Three different gel types can be processed simultaneously and gel configurations can be adapted to meet the needs of different laboratory workflows.

Compact and user friendly, the system comes complete with an easy-to-read, colour LCD touch screen for simple operation. Hydrasys 2 offers walkaway automation and provides laboratory personnel more time to focus on specialist tasks. Patented sample application methodologies provide enhanced resolution and sensitivity for simple result interpretation. And with Sebia, professional training and support are all part of the service.
