German biotechnology company Partec was honored with the “red dot: best of the best” design award for its smart and impressive product innovation, the flow cytometry system CyFlow® Cube 6.

More than 1,200 international guests celebrated the winners of the well-known competition in the Aalto Theatre. The 20th Red Dot Gala took place on the 1st of July in Essen’s opera house.

Partec’s CyFlow Cube 6 was selected from 4,442 products from 54 different countries as the winner of the highest award in this competition, the red dot: best of the best“ design award. The modern design of the instrument especially impressed the international, 37-member jury of experts: “The design of the CyFlow® Cube 6 combines highly precise advanced analysis with a new user concept of a mobile application in an impressively new way. Its minimalist and cubic design vocabulary is both distinctive and elegant, inviting users wanting to touch it. A visionary design sets new standards for the future of laboratory medicine.“

The CUBE 6 instrument presents an impressively innovative product concept for the key technology flow cytometry, featuring the highest precision measurements for a wide range of applications, such as analyzing blood samples to measure the immune status of patients with a wide range of diseases, e.g. leukemia, lymphoma, and HIV/AIDS. Individual cells can be analyzed for many different cellular properties simultaneously, at rates of up to 100,000 cells per second.

The design of the CyFlow® Cube 6 lends a new aesthetics to the field of flow cytometry, while at the same time delivers optimum performance and expands its coverage of an ever-widening range of applications.

Product portfolio featuring a unique combination of design, quality, functionality and cost-effectiveness

The assessment criteria of the jury included (1) degree of innovation, (2) functionality, (3) formal quality, (4) ergonomics, (5) durability, (6) symbolic and emotional content, (7) product periphery, (8) self-explanatory quality and (9) ecological compatibility.

“The prestigious ‘red dot: best of the best‘ quality seal of design approval granted for the CUBE 6 flow cytometer underlines Partec’s uniquely innovative approach to high performance instrument development in life sciences, diagnostics and biotechnology,” says Roland Göhde, CEO of Partec.

The Partec product portfolio can be generally characterized by the combination of groundbreaking all-in-one design with outstanding ergonomics, while featuring optimal performance. In addition to the CUBE 6 instrument, this portfolio also includes the CUBE 8 flow cytometer, a red dot design award winner for 2012 and an iF design award winner for 2013, as well as the CyFox® all-in-one DNA/RNA gel electrophoresis device which received the ‘red dot award: product design 2013’. By winning the worldwide leading design awards for three key product platforms within just two years, Partec has underlined its leading position in designing innovative products for cellular and molecular analysis, diagnostics and biotechnology.

The CyFlow® Cube 6 and the CyFox® are currently being exhibited in the Red Dot Design Museum located in Zeche Zollverein in Essen along with all of the winning designs from the red dot award: product design 2013 competition.

The red dot design award With the red dot design award, the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen created one of the world’s most acclaimed competitions. The prize, the “Red Dot”, has established itself internationally as one of the most sought-after quality marks for excellent design. The Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen displays the award-winning products in the Red Dot design museum for at least one year. In order to appraise the diversity in the field of design in a professional manner, the Red Dot design award breaks down into different disciplines: the “red dot award: product design”, “red dot award: communication design” and “red dot award: design concept”.
