Hear what the Director of the N8 Research Partnership thinks
23 Mar 2015Dr Peter Simpson, Director, N8 Research Partnership
As Director of the N8 Research Partnership, the collaboration of the eight most research intensive universities in the North of England, Dr Peter Simpson is involved in overseeing collaborative research programs, as well as building and developing new academic-industrial research initiatives and multi-institution collaborations.
Prior to joining the N8 Research Partnership, Dr Simpson worked for AstraZeneca from 2006 to 2014, where he led life sciences research departments and project teams.
Part of Peter’s role is to be up-to-date with new technology and the best equipment to purchase for the research-intensive universities involved in the N8 Research Partnership: "I need to stay informed on state-of-the-art developments," he said.
Researching the Latest Technologies
As part of Peter’s role, he has to research the most suitable technologies for a range of different labs and collaborations, in rapidly innovating fields such as NMR products, and mass spectrometry, before looking to purchase large pieces of equipment within the overall N8 strategy. Peter uses the SelectScience Buying Guides to keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends, and discover which products may be of most use to his work.
