Phenomenex Inc., a global leader in the manufacture of separation science consumables, announces the addition of a Shimadzu GC-compatible model to its Cool-Lock Nut line. This unique device (patent pending) eliminates finger burning and simplifies GC column installation.

The majority of GC problems originate in the injection port because precise column installation has always been challenging. With the Cool-Lock Nut, proper installation depth is ensured without wrenches or other tools. Use of the Cool-Lock Nut also reduces the time required to switch columns, for increased lab throughput and productivity.

A low thermal mass design allows the Cool-Lock Nut to cool rapidly, preventing users from burning their fingers during column changes. Other unique design elements prevent the column from slipping to ensure a more reproducible installation depth for improved method accuracy.

Phenomenex introduced an Agilent-compatible Cool-Lock Nut last year. "This tool has been very popular among gas chromatographers who have suffered for years from challenging column installation conditions," commented Sky Countryman, Product manager for Phenomenex. "We are pleased to add a model for Shimadzu systems, which are gaining in market share."

The Phenomenex Cool-Lock Nut works with all standard GC columns. It can be used over and over for accurate column installations.

Phenomenex is a global technology leader committed to developing novel separation, purification and analytical chemistry solutions for the life sciences and related industries. Phenomenex's core technologies include products for liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, sample preparation, bulk purification chromatographic media, and chromatography accessories and equipment.
