PittCon Showcase: Shimadzu Scientific Instruments

18 Apr 2006

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments, Inc., one of the leading developers of analytical instrumentation in the U.S., announced the showcasing of several new products and developments at the PittCon 2006 conference and exhibition.

These included an array of Prominence HPLC developments such as the Prominence High-Throughput HPLC. Ideal for Fast LC applications, the Prominence High-Throughput features high pump motor resolution (3nL/step), stable and reliable temperature control, ultra-fast 10 second injection speed with excellent injection accuracy and low carryover via the SIL-20 Autosampler, and a fast response UV detector. The inclusion of Shimadzu’s new Shim-pack XR-ODS column increases analysis speed while decreasing back pressure. In addition, Shimadzu displayed Prominence’s flexibility by showcasing specific 2-D HPLC application systems and a Method Development System, which offers the ability to configure 4 solvent pairs and up to 10 columns.

Another new instrument was the ICPE-9000 Multitype Inductively Coupled Plasma Emission Spectrometer. Utilizing a vacuum spectrometer equipped with semiconductor detectors, the first of its kind in ICP emission spectrometers, the IPCE-9000 offers high-performance and high-throughput, and is ideal for analyzing everything from metals and chemical products to drinking water and pharmaceuticals. A large-scale one-inch CCD detector with increased pixel size and an Echelle spectrometer allow high-speed measurements with increased resolution, while the multi-functional attributes of the software’s Assistant functions enable simple and precise measurement.
