TwistDx's proprietary technology offers a rapid, efficient alternative to PCR. Watch the video to find out more.

TwistDx’s proprietary technology employs recombinase enzymes which are able to pair oligonucleotide primers with homologous sequence in duplex DNA. DNA is directed to defined points in a sample DNA, and if the target sequence is present, DNA amplification is initiated, with no need for thermal or chemical melting techniques. The DNA reaction is rapid and results in specific DNA amplification to a detectable level in approximately 3-10 minutes.

RPA is more rapid, convenient and efficient than the traditional polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Not only that, but the method is portable, with no need for a thermocycler, trained technician or a laboratory environment.

RPA is currently being used for a wide variety of applications including infectious diseases, plant biology, point-of-care and biodefense. You can find a list of over 150 peer-reviewed publications on the TwistDx website.

Infectious disease diagnostics

Watch this video to hear how scientists at the Georg-August-University in Germany are using RPA to develop portable RPA-based tests for Ebola, Zika and Chikungunya. The assays are as sensitive and specific as laboratory PCR-based detection assays, and they provide results in just a few minutes.

Biodefence applications

Watch this video to hear how scientists from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili’s Interfibio Research Group in Spain, are using RPA to detect potential biowarfare agents. This research is proof of concept for applying RPA in a heterogenous format, with one primer immobilized onto a solid surface.
