SANYO Electric Co. Ltd. (SANYO), a leading provider of environment- and energy-related products and services, announces the launch of ‘Virus Washer’, an air purifying system for businesses and organisations. The electrolysed water technology used in the VW-VF10BG ‘Virus Washer’ inactivates most airborne viruses and bacteria, and reduces pollen and dust mite allergens from treated air. Tests also reveal that SANYO’s proprietary electrolysed water technology effectively suppresses avian influenza viruses. This result was achieved by collaborative research with Tottori University, Japan (by a team led by Professor Kouichi Otsuki at the Faculty of Agriculture).

People are particularly susceptible to infection from airborne viruses and bacteria in communal areas such as offices, schools, hospitals and other public facilities. In order to address this problem, SANYO developed the ‘Virus Washer’ Air Purifying System, which suppresses and removes viruses and bacteria even in larger spaces, without the use of any chemicals.

To clean the air in large public places such as schools, hospitals and offices the fan speed can be set up to 600 m3/hr (10 m3/min). The powerful cleaning capacity of the ‘Virus Washer’ is capable of circulating the air approximately 3.3 times per hour in a room (approximately 180 m3).

Independent verification tests have shown that electrolyzed water is effective in suppressing more than 99% of bacteria and viruses in the air passing through the disinfectant element in a single pass.

The ‘Virus Washer’ is easy to install and operate and works in rooms of areas up to 100m2 and also humidifies dry air.
