Sartorius has expanded its array of ultrafilters by the Sartocon® ECO series of ultrafilters. Sartocon® ECO ultrafilters have been developed for biotechnological and pharmaceutical purification processes in the industry for the manufacture of vaccines and monoclonal antibodies.

Sartocon® ECO is based on Hydrosart® ultrafilter technology that uses stabilized polymer membranes based on hydrophilic regenerated cellulose. Hydrosart® membranes enable especially high yields by minimizing protein binding to the membrane and are thus virtually non-fouling. As Sartocon® ECO features high stability under strongly alkaline conditions and over wide temperature ranges, it is not only easy to clean but also reusable even after several cleaning cycles, considerably reducing operating costs. In addition, Sartocon® ECO filters provide constant process performance, allowing process parameters to be maintained in existing crossflow systems.

“There are a few, but specific requirements that high-performance ultrafilters must meet: high yield, minimal adsorption, complete cleanability and compatible use in existing crossflow systems. With the Sartocon® ECO ultrafilter series, we are providing production managers and process developers with a product that optimally fulfills these requirements,“ explains Frank Meyeroltmanns, Head of Product Management, Crossflow, at Sartorius Stedim Biotech.

Sartocon® ECO ultrafilters will be available in Slice, Sartocon® and Sartocube® formats for preferred nominal molecular weight cutoffs of 10kD, 30kD and 100kD in a cassette design.
