SelectScience announces new Board Chair
Eminent appointment brings extensive experience and expertise as team ramps up mission to further enhance global science communication
18 Oct 2021Leading science publisher SelectScience® has announced Mark Allin as the new Chair of its board of directors.
The high-profile appointment caps a hugely exciting few months for the pioneering digital communications company, in which it has secured a major investment from Vespa Capital, appointed a new CEO, and won the UK’s most prestigious business award, the 2021 Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
From its HQ in Corston, Bath, SelectScience is on a mission to make the future healthier. It provides trusted information, cutting-edge news, and resources to scientists across the world at the forefront of advancements across multiple scientific disciplines, including critical fields such as COVID-19, cancer research, drug discovery, sustainability, food quality, clinical diagnostics, and many others.
Mark Allin’s publishing experience spans more than three decades working in the US, Asia, and Europe. He held numerous leadership roles at global publisher John Wiley & Sons, latterly serving as President & CEO. He will bring exceptional strategic insight and industry know-how as SelectScience looks to build on its most successful year to date, further expand its reach and, ultimately, strengthen its position as the world’s number one science technology publisher.

As well as his time at Wiley - where Mark also served as SVP - Professional Development and Vice President Asia-Pacific - he has held senior positions at the likes of Blackwell Publishing and Pearson Education, as well as founding Capstone Publishing. He is currently Principal at ContentAll and serves on an array of boards including Edinburgh University Press, William Reed Business Media, The Charlesworth Group, and the Cambridge University Press Academic Advisory Board.
