The Scientists’ Choice Awards are the laboratory industry’s first awards to provide the online scientific community with a channel to celebrate new technologies. The awards were based on the results of an independent poll, where more than 20,000 scientists from the SelectScience online community were invited to nominate and vote for their favourite new products. The winners of the Web Awards were decided by SelectScience editors, based on user response/click-through rate.

Kerry Parker, Editor for SelectScience, commented, "The Scientists' Choice Awards provide the online laboratory community with a channel to voice their opinion and provide feedback to manufacturers. The product awards highlight the technologies which have made a real impact in the laboratory, and the Web awards acknowledge the most successful e-marketing campaigns and provide marketers an invaluable insight into the most effective online techniques."

The awards were presented at the analytica Conference and Exhibition in Munich, Germany. Dr Ralph Vogelsang, Senior Sales Representative, of Applied Biosystems accepted the award for Best New Life Sciences Product. Rebecca Hess, Product Specialist Sample Processing, of Eppendorf accepted the award for Best New General Lab Product.
