Sensitive and Specific Kits for Proteoglycan Research
1 Jun 2011amsbio, specialists in high purity reagents for glycobiology and glycoanalysis, has announced a number of new and unique kits for proteoglycan research.
A new sandwich ELISA kit for measurement of Keratan Sulfate (KS) at levels previously undetectable is now available. The new kit offers 10x the sensitivity of previous ELISA kits (down to 0.25 ng/ml) enabling measurement of KS in various animal samples, including serum and synovial fluid, where KS is present only at trace levels.
Hyaluronic Acid (Hyaluronan) is a glycosaminoglycan polymer critical for maintaining the cellular integrity of the extracellular matrix and in its lower molecular weight form participating in many biological processes. Based upon a competitive protein binding inhibition method a new assay kit from amsbio offers sensitive and highly specific measurement of Hyaluronic acid in body fluids, culture medium, and tissue extracts.
Heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPG) are known to play important structural and functional roles in linking the component proteins of the basement membrane, controlling the permeability properties of the membranes and signal transduction. To date a handicap in HSPG research has been a lack of a sensitive and more importantly specific test for human heparanase activity. Furthermore HSPG research has also suffered from a lack of a purified enzyme or instability of the cloned enzyme limits assay design. To address these shortfalls - amsbio has launched 2 new non-radioactive assay kits that offer sensitive and specific quantitative detection of heparanase in cell culture supernatants, human plasma, biological fluids and tissue samples. Supplied in a convenient 96-well plate format the kits are fast and easy-to-use.
amsbio offers an extensive range of products for glycobiology research including carbohydrates, enzymes, antibodies and assay kits: For further information please follow the company article webpage link on the right hand side of the page.
