Siemens CLINITEK Status Connect Urinalysis System Delivers Wireless Connectivity and Enhanced Barcoding Capabilities
25 Feb 2013With a recent software upgrade (V2.5/2.3.0.0) and new adaptor for its CLINITEK Status® Connect System, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics now offers hospitals and clinicians seamless wireless connectivity1 and improved barcoding capabilities for point-of-care (POC) urinalysis testing. These enhancements enable greater flexibility, risk management, and speed, while accommodating customer needs for multiple connection options, including wired, serial, or wireless.
The updated barcode scanning features facilitate greater efficiency and quicker response time via simplified data entry that allows input of urine strip lot numbers and expiration dates with one simple scan. Patient results can then be wirelessly transmitted from the CLINITEK Status Connect System to POC middleware solutions, lab information systems (LIS), or electronic medical records (EMRs).
“Receiving the barcoding capability and wireless connectivity together was one big bonus,” says Karen Hrischuk, POC Coordinator at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. “We now have the wireless flexibility to move our instruments without being restricted to fixed data ports. The barcode data entry combined with operator lockout allows us to provide quality, reliable results in real-time from authorized operators that no longer have a need to maintain manual logbooks.”
These barcoding and wireless connectivity enhancements complement the CLINITEK Status Connect System’s proven risk management capabilities: advanced operator management functions, programmable Quality Control (QC) protocols and QC lockout. The system combines with the CLINITEK Status+ Analyzer, which performs and reads MULTISTIX® brand urinalysis strips, the CLINITEST® hCG test, and provides microalbumin-to-creatinine ratios—all on the same solution. Together, the Siemens CLINITEK Status Connect System and CLINITEK Status+ Analyzer further elevate workflow efficiency and urine testing accuracy.
