A distribution agreement between Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics and CellaVision has recently commenced. The strategic collaboration is enabling Siemens to complement its existing portfolio of hematology solutions with CellaVision’s digital microscopy hematology products. The agreement has been designed to bolster Siemens’ range of practical automation solutions in order to assist high-volume laboratories and help to maximize hematology workflow.

As part of the collaboration, Siemens’ existing hematology portfolio is benefiting from the addition of products such as the CellaVision® DM96 and DM1200 Digital Cell Morphology Systems. Siemens’ advanced testing equipment includes the ADVIA® 2120i, the ADVIA Autoslide, CentraLink Data Management and the option to integrate all of these systems using the Aptio Automation system.

The CellaVision DM96 and DM1200 digital cell morphology systems are some of the latest CellaVision products covered by the agreement, designed to automate the time-consuming manual activities associated with traditional microscopy. The technology uses digital image analysis technology to locate and pre-classify cells in blood and other body fluids, providing improved quality and consistency of reports, faster turnaround times and enhanced productivity in high-volume laboratories. Remote access capability further improves the clinical reporting function within hematology departments.

“The distribution agreement and collaboration between Siemens and CellaVision underlines our commitment to expanding our hematology portfolio,” states David Barmby, Marketing Manager, Hematology at Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics. “We are delighted to be able to build on our existing practical automation solutions with digital microscopy products in support of laboratories and high-volume operations.”

"The agreement with Siemens is part of our long term expansion strategy and strengthens our market leadership. CellaVision is very pleased to offer Siemens' hematology customers the opportunity to become users of the digital way of doing cell differentials,” states Yvonne Mårtensson, CEO at CellaVision. “The confidence in our products and the trust in our company, shown by Siemens, make us very proud. It further proves that CellaVision is now the gold standard in digital analysis of cell differentials in blood and other body fluids."
