SIGMA-ALDRICH LAUNCHES NEW AND EXPANDED 5th EDITION OF THE SIGMA-RBI HANDBOOK OF RECEPTOR CLASSIFICATION AND SIGNAL TRANSDUCTION
28 Jun 2006Sigma-Aldrich, a leading $1.7 billion Life Science company, has launched a new and significantly expanded 5th edition of The Sigma-RBI Handbook of Receptor Classification and Signal Transduction, available both online and in print.
The Handbook has been updated to keep pace with the growing number of key receptors and signaling enzymes that are the focus of cell signaling research. In addition, it highlights the development and availability of new and improved pharmacological tools used to investigate their function and regulation.
Useful to a broad spectrum of life science researchers, The Sigma-RBI Handbook presents concise and peer-reviewed information on the characterization and classification of a wide range of receptors, ion channels, transporters, neurotransmitter synthesis/metabolism pathways and intracellular signaling enzymes. Over 80 existing entries were updated, and 26 new entries were added with a strong focus on kinases and ion channels.
“We gratefully acknowledge the outstanding efforts of the contributors in writing, updating and reviewing entries,” said Keith Watling, Director of Strategic Marketing, Cell Signaling, and Editor of the new Handbook. “We originally created The Handbook as a central and comprehensive resource for receptor and signal transduction research, and since the first edition was published in 1994 it has become an essential tool for scientists working in these areas. The updated Handbook reflects our dedication to providing scientists with unrivalled knowledge that accelerates their innovative research.”
Sigma-Aldrich has collaborated with over 220 respected research scientists in 19 different countries to make The Handbook a valuable resource for information on cell signaling mechanisms.
Free access to the handbook is available online at the article webpage.
