Binding Site has announced today that they have added six new assays to the SPAPLUS Specialist Protein Analyzer menu. The assays will provide quantitative results to aid the assessment of a patient’s immune system (IgG, IgA, IgM and albumin CSF assays), investigation of hereditary angioedema (C1 inactivator), and iron deficiency anemia (transferrin).

The assays are all fully automated for use with the SPAPLUS Analyzer. The SPAPLUS is a compact, turbidimetric platform for specialist protein testing. It enables laboratories to maintain the quality of results and high throughput required for specialised protein assays.

Pre-programmed protocols developed and manufactured by Binding Site provide highly sensitive and reproducible results that match or have greater sensitivity than nephelometry. The additional tests complement the panel of assays currently available on SPAPLUS which include Freelite® serum free light chain assays, Hevylite® immunoglobulin heavy chain/light chain assays, IgG, IgA, IgM, IgD, IgG and IgA subclasses, complement C3c, C4, CH50, albumin serum, haptoglobin, prealbumin (transthyretin), cystatin C and beta-2 microglobulin.

SPAPLUS has an expanding menu of diagnostic tests related to disease state management and clinical practice guidelines. Binding Site intends to add more assays to the menu during 2012.
