Product of the Year 2024 – A victory for sustainable innovation

One of Starlab's key accomplishments in 2024 has been receiving the prestigious Product of the Year 2024 award for its TipOne^® Sterile Refill System. Voted by readers of Labo.de, this award celebrates Starlab’s dedication to sustainable laboratory products. The TipOne^® refill system, which features packaging made from 100% recycled plastic, has been designed to reduce plastic waste while maintaining high standards of quality and functionality.

Since its introduction, TipOne^® has been an industry leader in cutting single-use plastic in laboratories, and this recognition highlights Starlab’s ongoing innovations to make pipetting more sustainable. This award serves as a testament to the positive impact of using sustainable laboratory products to reduce the huge amount of plastic waste generated by laboratories.

A new milestone in Starlab’s ecolution journey

TipOne^® continues to evolve, and another important milestone in Starlab’s Ecolution Movement was achieved in 2024. From July, the blue base of Starlab’s TipOne^® racks are now manufactured using 25% recycled plastic. Building on the previous achievement of creating refill systems with 100% recycled plastic components, this milestone reinforces the company’s commitment to decrease plastic waste and minimize environmental impact.

Since its launch, TipOne^® has been transforming laboratory work with its reusable and refilable system. With sustainability now becoming an increasingly central focus of most labs, Starlab continues to emphasize the importance of innovation along the product lifecycle. Sustainability Weeks 2024 – Starlab’s commitment to a greener future

In addition to product innovations, Starlab is hosting its Sustainability Weeks 2024 which will run from October 7 to 25. Now in its sixth year, this event promotes sustainable lab practices. The program includes webinars and in-person visits to laboratories across the UK, Germany, France, and Italy, where Starlab employees will provide practical tips on how to make your lab more sustainable.

A kick-off for the event was their annual Clean-Up Day, where Starlab employees, in collaboration with Oclean, collect waste in the Neuer Höltigbaum Nature Reserve and Blakelands, Milton Keynes Area. This initiative reflects Starlab’s broader mission to inspire environmental responsibility and engage employees in their sustainable ethos.
