Stratech Scientific are working with Salimetrics LLC, a world leader in advanced salivary testing, to offer Salivary Assay Kits available against Cortisol, Testosterone, DHEA, Progesterone, Estradiol, Estriol, Secretory IgA and Alpha amylase.

At Loughborough University, sport scientists have long been using salivary markers as indicators of the stress response to exercise, both in studies examining the impact of acute exercise on immunoendocrine responses and to monitor athletes over the course of a competitive season.

The measurement of salivary immunoglobulin A, cortisol and testosterone have proved useful in this regard. Stressed athletes exhibit depressed levels of immunoglobulin A and an elevated cortisol/testosterone ratio.

The superior performance characteristics of the Salimetrics Kits - high accuracy and precision, strong correlation with serum assays, conservative sample volumes and short incubation times - have meant their use recently in the monitoring of premier league footballers over the course of the season.

Michael Gleeson, Professor of Exercise Biochemistry at Loughborough University and author of more than 150 publications in the field commented that he
"…found the Salimetrics ELISA kits to be reliable and easy to use and entirely suitable for the routine monitoring of saliva samples from athletes/soccer players."
