The GLE-UVSC UV Sterilisation Cabinet

27 Aug 2007

The Scie-Plas GLE-UVSC UV sterilisation cabinet provides effective decontamination of reagents and equipment before carrying out sensitive PCR reactions, particularly when amplifying nucleic acid sequences which are either in limited supply or of low copy number.

Benefits include: -

  • Four 15-Watt UV-C bulbs - denature nucleic acids within 30 minutes, minimising unwanted background contamination in PCR reactions
  • Optimal reflectors - ensure uniform irradiation of the entire work surface area
  • Timer-control - over exposure time and UV-dosage
  • Timer override switch - for constant irradiation of work area when preferred
  • Safety assured: -
  • 10mm optical acrylic construction - provides a fully enclosed impermeable barrier to UV-C radiation and β-emitting isotopes, also allowing the cabinet to be used as a radioactive workstation;
  • Safety interlock switches - immediately cut out the UV source when the side doors are opened to prevent accidental exposure, whereas a white light illuminates the work area during use

An ideal pre- and post-PCR sterilisation accessory to Techne® thermal cyclers, also available from Scie-Plas
