Thermo Electron Corporation at PittCon2006

This year at PITTCON 2006, Orlando, Florida, Thermo Electron Corporation, the world leader in analytical instruments, unveiled the new Sorvall® RC-6™ Plus high-speed floor model centrifuge alongside the new Espresso™ personal microcentrifuge. Both models are the latest additions to Thermo’s extensive centrifuge portfolio.

The Sorvall® RC-6™ Plus is an enhanced model with a small footprint, superior functionality and increased safety. Its improved speed makes it ideal for the efficient harvesting of cells, homogenate clarification, isolation of subcellular fractions (including nucleic acids), and pelleting protein and virus precipitates. The new Espresso is a user-friendly microcentrifuge specifically designed to ensure fast and safe sample separation for molecular biology applications. Its unique 12-place non-corrosive autoclavable rotor makes loading and unloading of 250 µl to 2.0 ml samples simple and straightforward, and with rapid acceleration/deceleration and 14,500 xg spin, it is ideal for general use and basic spin-downs, as well as more complex protocols.
