Thermo Electron Corporation announces the release of version 7.3 of its OMNIC™ Professional Software Suite. With this software release, Thermo expands capabilities for its FT-IR, Raman and FT-NIR spectrometers. OMNIC 7.3 software provides new time-based experiment features, Raman productivity tools, enhanced data transferability, additional capabilties for regulatory compliance, and compatibility with Thermo’s dedicated FT-NIR systems.

OMNIC Series software for time-based experiments has been significantly enhanced with new 2D and 3D data visualization tools, programmable data collection events and integrated data processing and analysis functions, such as a new one-click spectral search feature, that enable users to more rapidly and accurately extract results from their experiments. This software is especially useful for hyphenated techniques such as TGA-IR and GC-IR, or conducting kinetics and rapid-scan experiments using FT-IR or Raman spectrometers.

OMNIC 7.3 also offers new features to improve sample analyses from Nicolet™ Almega™ XR dispersive Raman spectrometers. These include patent pending Auto Exposure and Smart Background correction, which ensure even first-time users obtain high quality spectra and shorten sample turnaround time. Completing this robust offering are automated fluorescence rejection to remove spectral interference and fully automated instrument alignment and calibration capabilities.

For FT-IR or Raman users who are replacing older instruments, new data compatibility tools in OMNIC 7.3 allow them to seamlessly utilize data files and libraries generated by all the major manufacturers when they update to Thermo instrumentation. To better address OMNIC’s usability and quality, as well as regulatory compliance, Thermo has introduced new tools including automatic Software IQ that quickly verifies correct software installation, and OMNIC Software OQ test scripts which allow site specific testing of software functionality as required by FDA computer system validation guidelines.

With the release of OMNIC 7.3, Thermo now provides Antaris dedicated FT-NIR users the same spectroscopic software platform employed by Thermo laboratory FT-IR and Raman spectrometers which enables them to take advantage of its power and flexibility to aid their method development.
