Thermo Fisher Scientific Adds New Protein Ladders for Accurate Molecular Weight Determination after Gel Electrophoresis

17 Jan 2012

Thermo Fisher Scientific, today announced the addition of two new protein molecular weight markers for determining the size of proteins in gel electrophoresis and Western blotting applications. The ready-to-use Thermo Scientific PageRuler NIR Protein Ladder contains a mixture of 10 proteins ranging from 11K to 250K. After SDS protein gel electrophoresis or Western blot transfer to a membrane, the protein bands of the marker can be easily visualized using a fluorescent detection instrument, eliminating the need to overlay pre-stained markers. For easy reference, the 55K protein band has greater intensity than the other ladder bands.

The Thermo Scientific PageRuler Unstained High Range Protein Ladder is a mix of eight purified recombinant proteins ranging from 60K to 250K. The ladder is ready to use without heating and diluting. It is easily detected after denaturing protein gel electrophoresis with either coomassie or silver stains, and it can be detected in Western blots with protein stains. The 150K band of the ladder has greater intensity for easy orientation.
