Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. today introduced the new Thermo Scientific Indiko, a fully automated, compact, random access chemistry analyzer which recently received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance. Indiko™ is an easy to use, cost-effective system designed for clinical chemistry and specialty testing.

The company will showcase the Indiko analyzer at Thermo Scientific booth #1720 during AACC 2011, being held July 26 - 28, at the Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, Georgia.

The Thermo Scientific Indiko benchtop analyzer is designed for routine clinical chemistry testing in small laboratory settings and specialty testing such as specific proteins, drug of abuse testing and therapeutic drug monitoring including immunosuppressant drug monitoring (ISD). Bar-coded, ready to use Thermo Scientific system reagents provide ease-of-use and optimized package sizes for low volume testing needs. A mix of bar-coded primary tubes and sample cups may be used at any time, increasing the flexibility of operation. Patient oriented testing produces results quickly thus enhancing the quality of patient care.

Indiko includes several user friendly automated features, like advanced dilution management and real-time monitoring of reagent usage, which help to manage a daily workload fluently. Samples, reagents and consumables can continuously be loaded without interrupting the testing process, and different sample types can be analyzed at the same time. A real-time QC program with multiple Westgard Rules assures the reliable performance. Application data as well as calibrator and control values are loadable from a file or from a two-dimensional barcode by the barcode scanner. The test flow definition allows for up to four reagent additions in each test, offering automation even for the most complex methods. The unique cuvette design supports low reagent volumes thus reducing operating costs, especially important when working with specialty tests. Each cuvette is used only once to ensure accurate and precise results.

Indiko has a small footprint and fits ideally in a laboratory with space limitations. The intuitive user interface has a highly graphical design and is supported by a touch screen. Besides routine clinical chemistry testing, Thermo Scientific Indiko serves various dedicated specialty testing needs by offering quality, flexibility and automation and thus saving time and money.
