Thermo Fisher Scientific Introduces Next-Generation Finnpipettes

1 Apr 2008

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, today announced the expansion of its Finnpipette® product family with the introduction of two new flagship models, the Thermo Scientific Finnpipette F1 and F2 Series. Incorporating more than 40 years of pipetting expertise, the new F-Series offers superior accuracy and the highest levels of pipetting precision for both routine use and for quality-conscious research and pharma-biotechnology laboratories. These new models will be showcased at the Thermo Scientific booth 105/204, Hall B1 at Analytica 2008, being held in Munich, Germany, from April 1-4.

Both F1 and F2 series products include variable and fixed volume single-channel models covering 0.2 µl to 10 ml for assured versatility. Furthermore, multi-channel models are available for both series and include 8-, 12- and 16-channel pipettes covering 1–300 µl, for even greater flexibility.

The Finnpipette F1 Series incorporates many innovative ergonomic features to effectively prevent the occurrence of repetitive strain injury (RSI) symptoms. The soft handle contours to the shape of the user’s hand, and the improved 120° horizontally adjustable wide-supportive finger rest allows users to relax their hands between pipetting actions. Each color-coded pipette also offers a patented soft-touch mechanism to lower tip-ejection forces. This feature is especially beneficial when ejecting tips from the multi-channel pipette. In addition, a unique triple-action pipetting hat prevents accidental volume alteration. Furthermore, the Finnpipette F1 Series features an antimicrobial plastic polymer grade, which offers protection against the growth of microbes and prevents sample contamination from the pipette.

The Finnpipette F2 Series is a general laboratory pipette for all routine applications. Each color-coded pipette in the F2 Series allows the user to find an easy match to corresponding Finntips, and it can be autoclaved to prevent contamination between samples. To prevent RSI symptoms, each pipette offers an ultralight and smooth pipetting action. The advanced volume-gearing mechanism allows superior volume precision to two decimal places, and the double-action pipetting hat prevents any accidental volume alterations. Furthermore, the larger display makes the numbers easier to read and allows volumes to be set quickly, so the researcher can focus on their work.

As with the entire Thermo Scientific Finnpipette range, the new Finnpipette F-Series is compatible with Fintip Flex pipette tips, which are available as standard and sterilized racked tips as well as refill kits, providing flexibility for all applications.
