Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science, today introduced the Thermo Scientific Pierce Concentrators for convenient protein concentration, desalting and buffer exchange. The unique design of the Pierce® Concentrators consists of a high-performance regenerated cellulose membrane fused to a conical device. This design greatly improves the concentration factor achieved in a single centrifugation step and minimizes polarization and adsorption at the membrane surface.

The Pierce Concentrators result in concentration factors of greater than 110-fold in less than 45 minutes with the 20 ml device. The same concentration is achieved in 30 minutes with the 7 ml device.

The Pierce Concentrators are compatible with swinging-bucket and fixed-angle rotors and are accurately rated for molecular weight cut-off (MWCO), routinely providing greater than 90 percent recovery of proteins larger than the membrane MWCO. The Pierce Concentrators are available with MWCOs of 9, 20 or 150K.

The Pierce Concentrators are supplied in packs of 10 or 25 devices. The 7 ml size device accommodates sample volumes of 1-7 mls; the 20 ml size device covers 5-20 ml sample volumes.
