Thermo Fisher Scientific: Science World to celebrate “Silver Jubilee” at Doncaster Racecourse

Science World, the UK’s premier laboratory experience, is gearing up for its Silver Jubilee event on 7th October at Doncaster Racecourse. The event, hosted by Thermo Fisher Scientific, showcases the very latest in laboratory innovations with thousands of products in action and is ideal for anyone who works in or around a laboratory.

Celebrating the 25th Science World marks a significant milestone in the company’s history. Organised by Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science, this show provides an unrivalled day out for all those involved in the laboratory industry and is completely free of charge to attend.

“Science World welcomes everyone from serious research scientists to lab technicians and purchasing professionals to new entry scientists,” said Emily Quinton, European Marketing Communications Manager for Thermo Fisher Scientific. “Our aim is not only to educate, but also engage at every level. Other companies include GE Healthcare, Eppendorf, Corning and Kimberly-Clark Scientist, writer and broadcaster Baroness Susan Greenfield is back by popular demand as a keynote speaker focusing on “Creativity in Science: A Neuroscience Perspective.” Baroness Greenfield is renowned for her ability to simplify the complicated, entertain and provoke debate.

Speaking for the first time is Michael Stevens, the persona behind YouTube sensation Vsauce. Michael will be taking an innovative look at the science behind seemingly ordinary phenomena with his presentation entitled “Curiosity. The importance of asking questions: Mindblowing science in everyday life.”

Dr Hal (Sosabowski), Professor of Public Understanding of Science at the University of Brighton, will once again enthrall audiences with his chemical spectacular covering “An Explosive Odyssey! Journey to the Centre of the Periodic Table: Thermodynamics and Kenetics – but not as you know them” and “Braving the Elements: Voyage to the Darker Reaches of the Periodic Table. Gases in Disguise.” With balloon creations from Mr. and Mrs. Ballooniverse, a caricaturist and Titan the Robot bringing a unique blend of comedy, street theatre and music, visitors will have plenty to entertain and enjoy alongside the exhibition booths. The event also features a pop-up spa and Tipster racecourse tours.

Visitors can join in the 25th Science World celebrations with a “Tweet to Win” competition on event day to win a silver Mini iPad as well as a number of £25 spot prizes for those engaging on the Twitter wall. The event is free to attend and complimentary transportation is available for groups of 10 or more.
