Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, will showcase at Analytica 2008 its NUNC™ polycarbonate Cell Culture Inserts. The new inserts allow researchers to culture cells in conditions that promote more natural cellular environments than ordinary tissue culture dishes and plates. As a new and broader range of inserts, Thermo Fisher now offers four sizes of polycarbonate inserts for use with 24-, 12- and 6–well Multidishes, as well as a small version for use with the Multidish 6. These new inserts will be featured at the Thermo Scientific booth 105/204, Hall B1 at Analytica 2008, being held in Munich, Germany, from April 1-4.

All inserts are offered with three different membranes, a 0.4, 3 or 8 µm pore size polycarbonate membrane treated for cell culture applications. This extended offering provides a variety of insert permeabilities suitable for different cultivation and assay techniques including transport, secretion and absorption studies, as well as chemotaxi, invasion and co-cultivation assays - many of which are used across academia and the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.

Permeable inserts and microporous membranes promote more natural cellular environments than ordinary tissue culture dishes and plates by permitting the uptake and secretion of molecules both from the basal and the apical part of the cell membrane. As such, they are applicable for use with a number of assay and cell types. Furthermore, NUNC polycarbonate Cell Culture Inserts are designed to aid contamination-free culture and are packed in Multidishes for easy access/usage and have tabs for better and secure manual handling. All inserts are sterile SAL 10-6, endotoxin free, surface treated for optimal cell attachment and packed in re-sealable bags.
