Thermo Fisher Scientific to Show Integrated Proteomic Sample Preparation Workflow at HUPO 2008

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, will introduce an integrated proteomic sample preparation workflow based on the Thermo Scientific KingFisher^® Flex magnetic particle processor at HUPO, Amsterdam (August 16-20 2008). Optimized purification protocols and high-speed, automated operation mean that the KingFisher Flex can process an entire 96 well plate in 20-40 minutes. This allows high volume samples to be purified with excellent reproducibility and quality. Full integration with specialized affinity supports provides turn-key solutions for complex purification protocols, greatly reducing assay variability and hands-on time.

The 24-magnet head of the Thermo Scientific KingFisher Flex enables the high-speed processing of 200 – 5000 µL samples in 24-well deep well plates, providing five times the yield with high quality, dependable results. Furthermore, the larger combined volume range (20 – 5000 µL) of the KingFisher Flex makes it suitable for any researchers requiring larger volumes of starting material.

The easy-to-use control panel, color display and on-board memory of the KingFisher Flex ensure instant access to all settings and more than 100 protocols. For more streamlined workflows, the robot-compatible KingFisher Flex integrates smoothly with benchtop automation systems. The inbuilt heating block enables samples to be heated from 4ºC above ambient to 96ºC, for purifications where higher temperatures are required. The KingFisher Flex offers very fast purification of all samples, requiring the minimum amount of hands-on operation and preparation time. Furthermore, the BindIt™ PC interface software lets users easily set access control levels and offers clear reporting and advanced protocol management.
