Thermo Introduces at Analytica its Newest Mass Spectrometers with the Sensitivity Required for Superior Performance

22 May 2006

Thermo Electron Corporation continues to enhance its high performance, highly sensitive mass spectrometer line with the unveiling of its new DELTA V and DFS instruments at Analytica 2006.

The DELTA V Advantage and DELTA V Plus gas isotope ratio mass spectrometers offer excellent linearity and stability, and low noise emission in a cost-effective, small footprint design. Thermo’s DFS is a high-resolution GC/MS, and is the first new design of its kind in over 15 years.

Thermo’s DFS, which succeeds the Finnigan™ MAT 95 XP GC/MS, provides high quality analyses at the lowest cost of ownership for contract laboratories and governmental authorities that monitor food, feedstuff and environmental samples. It is particularly suited for highly accurate trace compound analyses of environmental samples and sports doping, providing lowest LOQs (Limits of Quantitation) for confirmation analysis. The DFS offers a significantly higher sample throughput as compared to its predecessor, and is as easy to use as a benchtop GC/MS.

The new DELTA V isotope ratio mass spectrometers, which include the DELTA V Advantage and DELTA V Plus, are designed for scientific research in academia, industrial, commercial and governmental laboratories. Fields of application are earth sciences, atmospheric research, ecology, doping control, forensics, medical research and authentification of food, beverages and drugs.

Succeeding Thermo’s successful DELTA Plus Advantage and the DELTA Plus XP instruments, the new DELTA V series delivers the sensitivity, versatility and reliability required to ensure superior performance. It is complemented by a large selection of sample preparation and inlet systems that address a wide range of applications. The DELTA V IRMS can be connected on-line to liquid chromatographs and gas chromatographs as well as elemental analyzers simultaneously.
