UAV-based methane measurement at a fracking site

Explore ABB's laser-based analyzers, the Microportable Greenhouse Gas Analyzer GLA131-GGA (MGGA) and UAV-based Greenhouse Gas Analyzer GLA133-GGA (pMGGA), for monitoring methane emissions from shale gas extraction sites. A study at the UK’s Little Plumpton fracking site used UAVs equipped with these analyzers to map methane emissions. UAVs, combined with near-field Gaussian Plume Inversion (NGI) for flux analysis and supported by wind vector data, provided efficient, three-dimensional emission mapping. This approach illustrates how ABB’s technologies enhance flexibility and accuracy in environmental emissions monitoring.
