Waters Corporation (NYSE:WAT) released today UNIFI® Scientific Information System Version 1.8 with new features intended to enhance laboratory productivity. Today's announcement coincides with the introduction of the VION™ IMS QTof Mass Spectrometer which is the first Waters® mass spectrometer to be fully supported on UNIFI software.

New features of this release of UNIFI software include support of the VION IMS QTof MS System, native APGC control, time-of-flight (Tof) MRM support, support of collision cross section (CCS) data, and Tof quantitative and qualitative workflows providing a comprehensive, single software solution.

“UNIFI 1.8 offers many groundbreaking capabilities to users of our mass spectrometry solutions," said Dr Steve Smith, Senior Director of Informatics, Waters Division. "Perhaps the most significant of these is the unique ability to use CCS measurements in routine workflows, enabling scientists to realize the full potential of ion mobility in the analysis of complex samples for the first time."

UNIFI is an integrated workflow-focused, data platform that delivers significant productivity improvements. UNIFI is the first product to seamlessly combine LC, MS and data management into a single software platform that encompasses data acquisition, processing, visualization, reporting, and configurable compliance tools within a workstation or networked laboratory environment. Designed for use in both the regulated or non-regulated laboratory, the software’s scalable open architecture provides a future proof system solution that can grow as a laboratory’s needs grow.

"UNIFI 1.8 offers several new features that will be very useful for our daily toxicology screening. Sample processing is faster than previous versions and new features, such as assigned adducts, improved library editing, improved discovery tool, item tags, improved reporting and other enhancements make screening in UNIFI much more powerful," said Dr Petur Weihe Dalsgaad, Forensic Scientist, University of Copenhagen.

Additional features of the software release include noise reduction algorithms which significantly reduce data file sizes without compromising data quality, increases in the number of active users on a network, and server virtualization. There are also many significant performance, usability and hardware improvements in UNIFI version 1.8, driven by feedback and requests from customers, that ensure users can not only more rapidly access their data but have greater confidence that valuable data is safeguarded against loss.

UNIFI Scientific Information System is the data acquisition and processing engine supporting the Waters Biopharmaceutical Platform Solution with UNIFI, Regulated Bioanalysis Platform Solution with UNIFI, Screening Platform Solution with UNIFI, Pesticide Screening Application Solution, Metabolite Identification Application Solution with UNIFI, Forensic Toxicology Screening Application with UNIFI, and Natural Products Application Solution with UNIFI.
