Wyatt Technology Showcases Its Unique DynaPro™ Titan Plate Reader at Pittcon 2008

3 Jan 2008

Wyatt Technology Corporation, the world leader in absolute macromolecular characterization instrumentation and software, will be showcasing its DynaPro™ Titan Plate reader on booth #5629 at Pittcon 2008, Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, 1-7 March, 2008. Wyatt’s DynaPro is the only automated, non-invasive dynamic light scattering system available for biomolecular characterization. The plate reader incorporates patented, state of the art technology to deliver superior light scattering performance as well as integrated data collection and analysis software designed specifically for stable and accurate protein batch analysis.

The pioneering DynaPro Titan Plate reader can be used to perform fast and accurate sample analysis in a wide range of applications. These include researching antibody formulations in a variety of solution conditions, screening proteins prior to crystallization trials and the bioprocessing and quality control of viral particles in vaccines.

The only alternative automated methods to the DynaPro Plate Reader potentially harm sample stability. Since the DynaPro does not suck samples from the well plate into the sample cell where measurements are then taken, it does not perturb the sample. Other devices rely on this sucking process, which can damage the sample, leading to inaccurate measurements, longer sample times, and potential sample contamination with every measurement.

The innovative DynaPro™ Titan Plate eliminates this risk while reducing the amount of time scientists need to spend operating and monitoring the instrument. The DynaPro’s non-invasive technology measures the sample in the industry standard microplates (96, 384 or 1536 well plates), where the data are collected automatically by the easy-to-use DYNAMICS software. The software can be customized to integrate with any of the industry leading liquid handling robotic systems. Once the data have been collected, the protein samples can be retrieved and the plates discarded, with no time required to be spent on cleaning.

Using the DynaPro Titan Plate Reader, protein samples can be analyzed in duplicate or triplicate to ensure the greatest possible accuracy. Users therefore benefit from increased productivity and can have complete confidence in the results produced by the software. Additionally, only very small sample volumes are needed, as little as 5 microlitres per well. This automated capability and the low sample volumes required provide users with the ability to perform experiments in less time and without the inconvenience of conventional batch DLS. Sample times are also reduced from 15 minutes to less than one minute.

The Dynapro Titan Plate is now also available with temperature control capability to perform accelerated stability, thermal melting and temperatures studies of multiple samples.
