Your Personal Reaction Station!
18 Dec 2007The J-KEM® Personal Reaction Station, distributed in the UK by Asynt Ltd, is the perfect intermediate step between running individual reactions and using complex and expensive automated parallel reaction systems. Up to six reactions can be run simultaneously in 50ml glass vessels under accurate temperature control, complete with stirring, solvent refluxing and inerting as required to create the right experimental conditions.
Using the J-KEM Digital Temperature and Stir Rate Controller, the temperature of the reaction block can be controlled to ±0.5 ºC from ambient to 130ºC, and down to -80ºC with a circulating chiller. An optional external temperature probe allows temperatures to be regulated by the temperature of the reaction mixture itself. A single, user set temperature ramp is supplied as standard, but an optional multi-ramp feature provides up to 128 programme steps.
Each reaction vessel is closed with a Teflon plug provided with a septum cap for easy addition of reagents. Six powerful magnetic stirring units give reliable stirring from 60 to 1000 rpm even with viscous or heterogeneous reaction mixtures. A refluxing manifold around the mid-section of each reaction vessel provides efficient refluxing with minimal solvent loss (only 2% loss of dichloromethane after 7 days at reflux). Each reaction vessel can be connected to an inert gas supply via individual flow controls, and quick release couplings allow individual reaction vessels to be added or removed without disturbing the environment of the other reactors. The stream of gas can be regulated to provide either an inert atmosphere or at higher rates to promote evaporation when required.
An optional serial interface and KEM-Comm software allow full computer control and data logging, perfect for GLP and GMP compliance. Other interface option gives the ability to control and monitor up to 32 Personal Reaction Stations simultaneously from a single PC.
J-KEM offer a range of synthesis products, all of which can be customised to meet customers' special requirements.
