Ziath Introduce the New DataPaq™ Handheld Scanners, State-of-the-Art, Next-Generation, 2D Tube Scanning Equipment
29 Jul 2009Ziath Ltd. announce the Ziath DataPaq™, a state-of-the-art, Next-Generation, 2D scanner. As 2D barcoded tubes become more prolific throughout the life-science industry and beyond, the ability to identify a tube anywhere in the organisation becomes more and more crucial. This hand-held device is able to scan a tube and communicate with the company server to retrieve and display information on the tube contents. For communication the device is also equipped with bluetooth and wireless networking capability.
The hardware for scanning will be a handheld device similar to a mobile phone which has been customised to perform the task-inhand – namely reading 2D barcoded tubes. The camera lens is on the top left of the device; this is the camera used to read the barcode from tubes.
Ziath will provide the software to scan and decode the barcode from the tube. In addition to this Ziath will also provide an interface which allows the barcode to be used to retrieve information from the client's information systems. This data will then be shown on-the screen. Examples of the data which can be shown include a registration number for the contents, a patient's name, a sample name or even a diagram of the sample's structure.
The DataPaq™ will be available in August 2009.
