Established in 1995 by co-founders Paul Norris and Chris Hansford, Astech Projects started as a software engineering company developing tailored software solutions for existing laboratory automation equipment. The company quickly developed into a provider of complete quality automation solutions by assembling a perfectly balanced team of software, electrical and mechanical engineers. Initially working in sectors such as the nuclear industry where failsafe reliability is paramount, Astech transferred these robust technologies to applications in the Pharmaceutical sector.

From tailored automation systems to innovative products

As well as one-off systems, Astech design and manufacture a range of modular products for high throughput analysis and experimentation. These address the automation needs of the pharmaceutical industry throughout the whole drug development process - from discovery to final manufacturing QC. Uniquely, Astech is a company that pay particular attention to software engineering (stemming from the founders' original core capabilities). Astech design each system around their unique State Engine platform. This allows dynamic real-time scheduling which, when allied to Astech's simple and intuitive Graphical User Interface, ensures the customer has both the most technologically advanced and easiest-to-use software in this market.

Modular products include the new Tablet-Pro for high throughput drug content analysis of tablets in the manufacturing environment. Tablet-Pro's unique design gives it the ability to fully automate content uniformity testing and stability analysis. The Tablet-Pro compliments Astech's portfolio of highly automated inhalation testing products. Capabilities also extend to offering individual consultancy services in its areas of expertise. Committed to QC, Astech maintains an accredited quality system together with TickIT assessment for software implementation. The company is also subject to regular external audits for ISO9001, TickIT and GAMP.
