Since its foundation in 1988 by Reg Freeman, Freeman Technology has established itself as designers and suppliers of automated testing systems used for the characterisation of various types of materials.
The strength of the business is the small team of specialists based at the design and manufacturing centre near Malvern in Worcestershire, UK. Engineering design, programming and IT skills were the keys to its success, now reinforced by application and marketing strengths.
The focus of the business turned to the testing of powders in 1996 when Freeman Technology completed a feasibility study that led to new design concepts and the patenting of an innovative displacement principle that became the basis of the FT4 Powder Rheometer.
Aided by SMART and SPUR innovation awards from the UK Department of Trade & Industry, the instrument was subsequently developed to meet the needs of powder users and processors by helping to solve problems of powder flow.
The success of the FT4 Powder Rheometer in the pharmaceutical, chemical and many other industries around the world, has resulted in increasing exports, and rapid expansion of the business. This was recognised in 2000 when Reg Freeman won the BT Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
