SelectScience® has introduced a new sponsorship scheme for science undergraduates around the world. The scheme is aimed at young scientists, who face personal disadvantages to attend university, with the aim of supporting them as they work to achieve scientific excellence and develop into the next generation of leading scientists.

The first lucky undergraduate is UK based Gerald Ruffell, who began a three year BSc (Hons) Biology degree at Cardiff University this month. Gerald is the first of his family to attend university and, despite limitations due to illness, has high hopes of making a difference in the field of biology.

Gerald says, “It's been such an amazing opportunity to have been sponsored by SelectScience. The financial assistance has allowed me to focus so much more on my studies. I am honestly taken aback by their generosity”.

The sponsorship is $3000/€2500/£2000 per year for each year of study.

What are the criteria to apply?

  • Applicants who are facing personal disadvantages to attend university
  • No funding of a similar nature should have been received from elsewhere
  • Open to all science undergraduates from every university across the world
  • Application deadline for 2017 funding is 30th June 2017
