Neuroscience and human genomics

The goal is to capture single neuron cells for downstream genomics applications - as in DNA amplification of single cells only then next-gen sequencing to call somatic mutations. The key is to get as quality cells and DNA as we would with single-cell FACS sorting. The Acculift LCM was compared with the Arcturus LCM and I found the Acculift to be much more user-friendly and efficient at capturing single cells. Unlike other brands, the Acculift was able to capture small-diameter cells without also removing neighboring cells. Documenting tissue, using the included Fluidigm LCM software, before and after capturing in order to verify single-cell removal was straightforward and much less time-intensive than the Archturus. It sped up workflow and led to an extremely reproducible ability to select and capture single cells.
