Great pipet controller, but do not use with acids.
Analyzing elemental/isotopic ratios in tissue samples
I really like this pipet controller because it is easy to use and the aliquoting mode is very convenient. However, pipetting concentrated acids will cause the unit to malfunction. This was not listed in the product description or manual when I purchased the pipet controller, so I assumed that it could handle acids similar to the other pipet controllers used in my lab. When my unit malfunctioned due to use with acids, VistaLab repaired it for free and their technical service representative (Jon Benack) was a pleasure to work with. I often need precise volumes of acids in my research, so I am disappointed that it cannot handle acids. However, I will continue to use this pipet controller with non-corrosive chemicals because of it's ease of use.

Cell culture media change and other applications
Every day, changing the medium is a task that could be boring, but using the ali-Q pipet is really easy and safe, as it allows you to just dispense the needed medium without worrying about putting too much or too less, as this fantastic pipet allows you to release the right amount of medium with just one click in an automatic way. Like this was not enough, this pipet can control the speed at which the medium is released into each well, making even easier your "boring" change of the medium.

Reagent preparation
Just purchased the Ali-Q pipette. This is a great instrument for preparing multiple aliquots of reagent for our sickle cell testing and control aliquots. The speed is fantastic. It took some getting used to but now we love it. It is a great time saver for our busy core lab.

Tissue culture
Product works well. I like having the ability to control how many mLs to dispense at a time. Although, I don't trust the volumes entirely so I would say it is a nice feature if accuracy is not a concern.

As you may know, ali-Q was specifically designed to be repeatedly accurate for aliquots due to its computer controlled technology, more accurate than measuring by eye. Are your accuracy concerns from observation, for example looking at the lines on your serological pipet? The lines themselves generally have a 2% error of full volume. May we suggest weighing aliquots to check accuracy? In any case, we are always happy to address your specific concerns.
